Our new Blogs are officially launched! Create yours today!
They have been a long time coming, but as of July 4, 2010 the new BookTalk.org member Blogs are live. Any and all members are welcome and encouraged to create their very own Blogs right here on BookTalk.org. In fact you can create as many Blogs as you like, but please be reasonable and don't create Blogs you have no intention of actually using.

You're very welcome, Robert. I especially like how you're linking from your blog posts to your forum posts. This is a good strategy for the people reading your blog and the search engine spiders. Eventually, with lots of links on your blog, you'll get more and more readers.

Oh, and Robert, one more thing. You do know you can change that header image on your blog right? I love the default theme, personally, but the header image it provides can be replaced with just about any image you like. Find a cool image on the web that would look decent cropped into a banner shape. Save it to your desktop. And then do into your blog dashboard, scroll down in the left sidebar to header, and add the new header image. Either use the image you saved to your desktop or use one of the several they include with them theme. You can select the part of the image you like, if you use your own image, by moving around the cropping box. Don't forget to make sure you drag one of the corners of the box to make the box as large as possible.

David, there seems to be an issue with the "Recent Blogs" block forcing the rest of the page to get squished to the left. I'm using Google Chrome, and have never seen this problem with BookTalk before. I took a few screenshots to show you what I mean. Hope this helps.

The blogs are initially set so that you have to approve your comments before they can be seen on your blog. If you want, I can help you fix that. Just let me know.

I noticed that I need to approve new comments on the email and after several failed atempts, I did indeed get the comment onto the blog. So, I'm a little less frustrated. But something tells me, it should not be this labor intensive.
Thanks for the offer Seraphim, you are such an old hand at this, I'm just a puny newbie. I just need some more practice I suppose.

Hahaha. You'll get to be an old hand at this soon enough. You can manually approve the comments, but if you go to your Admin panel, on the left sidebar underneath settings, there's a link for discussion. Click that. There's a list of controls, and one section is titled Before a comment appears.... Go ahead and uncheck those boxes within that section. The comments will then automatically post with no more hassle for you.
The best way to learn these blogs is just to click every tab on your admin panel and see what they do and what options they provide. That's how I learned my way around blogs. Hope those instructions help!
