Anyone that would like to participate in a discussion about how we should rename our existing forums and create new forum topics should come by the chat room tonight at 9:00 pm eastern. I'd also appreciate feedback on these new forums.

If it turns out we can't make it to this chat, may we submit our thoughts either before or after?
And let me re-plug for an "Arts and Leisure" section. I recently saw a performance of Rigoletto that I wouldn't mind talking about. |

Basically, an Arts and Leisure section would effectively split out of the Religion, Philosophy and Arts forum. We would have "Religion & Philosophy" and "Arts & Leisure". I think that would add another forum yet still keep our topics the same. A good idea to me as it will separate these topics from the Religion forum, which many people may avoid due to the heated nature of those discussions.

| Yes, all comments will be considered. I am simply asking anyone that would like to have a live chat discussion to attend the chat Thursday. But this isn't an indication that only those that attend will have a voice in the process. |

A thought occured to me today. Maybe we could have a forum called "Notes from the Blogosphere" or something to that effect, that would be devoted specifically to posting links to blog entries of interest. There are a ton of well-written blogs on every conceivable topic, and encourging BookTalk contributors to discuss those blogs could serve as a way of drawing our attention to topics that we can discuss at length on BookTalk.
Likewise, we could have a forum dedicated to discussing articles that we find on various online news sources. I'd recommend having some guidelines for both subforums so that you don't get people making links to every random site they come upon, but that you also handle those guidelines lightly.
I'm thinking both of those forums could stand alongside, or even inside, the "Additional Readings" forum. And you'd probably want to encourage people to come up with tangents that could then be posted in the topical forums (like "History, etc" or "Philosophy, etc"). The benefit to both would be simply their value as conversation starters. |

| I will be in the chat room if you want to discuss these ideas. |

| Sorry, I think I missed you. Incidentally, it looks like the time stamp is way off. It's saying that you posted your last message at 2:34 in the morning. You and I are in the same time zone, and it's only 10:55 here. Is the board on Greenwich time or something? |

| I think your settings need to be adjusted. Every member has their own time settings. |
