Very interesting.
http://www.wimp.com/experiencememory/I have had this experience myself, noted it, but did not posses the framework at the time to really reflect on it.
Why is it that I am willing to put myself through potentially very painful experiences if i know that the moment will be fleeting?
Why is it i have no fear of being punched in the face, though i know at the time it will be very unpleasant?
Pain is fleeting, glory is eternal.
This is why we are willing to tase people. It causes tremendous pain, but it is fleeting. Women report that child birth is extremely painful, but they have a hard time explaining it.
I think all of these things are related to the TED talk above.
