I deleted a thread I created a few weeks ago. It was about a crazy idea I had and I asked the community to help fund the idea if at all possible. Since nobody even responded to that thread I deleted it in embarrassment. But now I'll post about the nutty idea again.

Yesterday I got another email from Alain Robert, aka "Spiderman." This guys is known all over the world as the man who climbs up the sides of the world's tallest skyscrapers with his bare hands and no safety equipment.

Alain is now telling me he is about to scale one of the tallest buildings in the world in mid December. You've probably seen this guy on national news with helicopters flying around him filming his illegal climbs. GoldenPalace.com pays $25,000 each climb to have their web address painted on his back. With the amount of publicity he gets it might be money well spent.

Alain likes BookTalk and supports our Mission Statement. He is willing to sell us advertising space on his body for this December climb. We spoke on the phone months ago and we discussed 1000 Euros, which amounted to about $1250 US. I'm not sure if he kept those emails and recalls the agreed upon price, but I can refresh his memory.

So that is what this is all about. I'm wanting to have "BookTalk.org" painted on Spiderman's back during his next climb. I have no clue how much publicity this will get us. I'm willing to pay the majority of this expense personally...the risk is worth it to me.

After this climb we will have professional pictures to post on BookTalk, possibly in our sidebar, so that visitors quickly see them. Imagine the conversations we'd have if we had such a hook. And obviously, there would be quality video footage circulating all over the Internet and world. Alain's personal web site has permanent videos online so anyone at any time can see his climbs. I've watched every one of them.

This next climb will be one of the top 5 tallest buildings in the world. I'm not sure he wants me to tell anyone anything else. Afterall, the police attempt to stop him if anything leaks out on where and when his climbs are to take place.

Here is a link to GoldenPalace.com where they talk of one of his climbs. Here is a blurb:

Quote:
With the GoldenPalace.com logo prominently displayed on his back and legs, the online casino has gotten some great exposure from this latest climb. Starting at about 10am local time, he reached the top in about 20 minutes. Mr. Robert was making a statement against the violence that has erupted recently between Israel and Lebanon. With this climb he is hoping to promote a peaceful resolution to the current conflict. He said he did it -in the middle of a heat wave and without anything but his own hands- for "the peace in Lebanon".

Here is a link to an interview with Alain Robert.

Just so you realize how much money this guy gets for his climbs...

Quote:
But you know, more and more people are asking me to climb buildings which are completely impossible. Like in Saudi Arabia I have a very lucrative contract to climb a building for 100,000 Euro. But the building is not possible, unless I use suction cups. But for that money, you cannot say no.

100,000 Euro's = $127,510.16 USD

If Alain Robert will paint our URL to his body for 1000 Euro's I can't help but want to take this chance. Of course I'd hate for this to be his last climb. These climbs are extremely dangerous and it seems inevitable that one of these days he'll slip and fall to his death. But climbing is his passion and greatest love, and he will be doing it no matter what BookTalk decides, so we might as well enjoy the publicity.

Does anyone have any interest or ability to get involved with this? Or am I just dreaming? ::51

Let's just say that his next climb is one of the buildings towards the left side of this diagram.
