at least down to the mantle, haha.
after that, it is a little more suspect. After all, the crust slides across the mantle so your property itself, is merely a transient. You should get mineral rights though, or access to geo-thermal opportunities on your land. basically, as far as people will build, vertically, should be yours. _________________ Have you tried that? I think that, following in the venerable footsteps of Jed Clampett, formerly of Petticoat Junction (I believe), and thereafter of Beverly Hills, land rights would extend down as far as oil can be drilled

Johnson is correct, deeds on real property come with mineral rights. Also, once a building is errected, the sky above belongs to the owner as well, it can actually be sold. The air can be sold to builders, this happens often in big cities.
In my area there is a lot of protected wet land property. It is illegal to build on wet lands, however, developers get around this. For each acre of wet lands that are destroyed, the builder must replace it with two acres of wet lands. Sounds bizarre huh? How do you replace a natural resource like wet lands? By making a man made pond of course. Too true, too sad. _________________ I feel like a wet seed wild in the hot blind earth. --William Faulkner |
