I'm using a color scheme generator now

We have so many different colors on BookTalk.org that it becomes quite challenging to select the right color combination, so I've started to use a color scheme generator found at http://colorschemedesigner.com/. Hopefully, you all will appreciate the look. My eyes were starting to burn looking at the weird colors and contrasts. :shock:

I just looked for colors that were soothing and pleasing to the eye. What do you think of them?

And in the past I used far too many colors so that the left and right sidebars were filled with different colors. We looked like a gumball machine exploded in a library. :laugh:

Perhaps the more artistic members of BookTalk will advise. A problem with color is that it varies with monitor. But change is good. An invariant background color becomes fatiguing.

That's my line of reasoning too so I'm going to change the color scheme periodically. But when I change it I will use the color scheme generator to make sure I select the right color combinations.

Well, black on blue ain't good for me, personally....I have difficulty reading it.

On the threads....I always find the lighter grey much easier to see than the darker grey.....

Just a point to consider! ;-)

I just bought a new monitor and am seeing a significant improvement in the overall brightness of the screen and the vividness and contrast of the colors. Actually, I have my old monitor to the left of my new monitor with both monitors working together. Having two monitors makes working much easier and more efficient as I often have up to 6 windows open at the same time.

I wonder if you can increase the brightness of your monitor, Penelope. Have you experimented and tried? There might be some buttons on the front of the monitor that allow you to go into the monitor settings and increase brightness and maybe contrast. :hmm:

Oh yes, I can brighten it or make the sound louder or softer, or turn the sound off......When my grandson has been playing games on this laptop and I switch on - the sound is up and you would laugh if you could see how the noise makes me jump and sets me all a twitter.....

But I just find black print on dark blue difficult...even in magazines - it might be just my eyes at fault.

The print is definitely getting smaller and smaller...in newspapers and magazines....... ;-)

Chris, I can't see any black on dark blue now.....but it was there before!

But an instance is the Pole - black on brown - not easy to see....but I don't mean impossible to see....just not so easy. ;-)

I think I changed the dark colors to brighter colors before you checked again. I'll change the dark brown on the poll block to a lighter color. Thanks for your feedback. :smile:

I'm tweaking the colors on many of the pages throughout BookTalk.org today, so I appreciate the feedback. I just edited the Featured Book Suggestions page and think it now looks a bit better. Let me know if you agree. :hmm:
