Re: I Have Discovered John D. Barrow
Speaking of infinity, several times while rummaging through various bookstores I've run across copies of David Foster Wallace's "Everything and More: A Compact History of Infinity". I'm always intrigued, but so far I haven't ventured to actually buy the book and read it. I think I'll post that one to the book suggestion thread.
Wallace, as you may know, is primary known for his avant fiction, like "Infinite Jest", more an exercise in endurance than a novel, kind of like "Ulysses" set in the tennis camp of the future. But he apparantly also writes essays and books like this one, published in W.W. Norton's "Great Discoveries" line of science literature. If anyone else is interested, I may finally bite the bullet and read the damn thing, provided there's the promise of discussion at the end of the tunnel.
