Re: I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords!
From the moment this video started with a robot barreling out of the forest like a remnant of some half-remembered LSD fueled nightmare, i knew that BEAR needed to be on this list.
Why do they show this robot participating in such reckless destruction? Do they have to lord it over us that their new murder machine can break into your house, hit you with metal cylanders, drag your corpse out to the garage then steal your car?
There will be no hiding in sewer tunnels, shipping containers, or up ramps. He can turn the door-knob, but why should he when he can pummel his way through the door like it was the banner at a pep rally?
They show him curling 45 pound plates, wielding heavy club-like objects (in one case what appears to be a tank shell) and karate-chopping a block of wood! What's more, later in the video they demonstrate that BEAR (which can only stand for Better Eradication, through Artificial Reapers) is completely impervious to our meaty, feeble, muscle-driven punches and shoves.
So beware, all ye techno-lovers. BEAR waits in the night. He will charge through your door wielding mallets of tungston and a heart swollen with binary hate.
There is a new order, now, and it will be enforced by merciless mechanical actuators and hydraulic press assemblies. Quiver, you gellatenous meat sacks! BEAR has come!
BEAR SN 001: What do you want to do today, Kill all Humans?
Here we see how robots of the future will be able to paddle our asses with a thousand bitch smacks at near sonic speed and we will bounce off of the table like ping pong balls. Also, it is no use trying to zig and zag. Evasive manuevers cannot shake the steely gaze of our future robot overlords.

Re: I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords!
And now, perhaps the best quote i have ever read.
Quote:
By teaching a robot where the human threshold for pain is, we can teach the robot when to stop punching.
......
Not surprisingly, Prof Povse was able to drive the punchy robot to the point where it delivered significant tissue damage
This should rightfully bring up a number of questions in your mind. Why are they teaching robots karate? If a modern robot can already beat up 6 men by itself, what hope is there for our children once the AI singularity takes over and the next generation are designed, not by feeble grey meat, but indominable calculating machines with diamond hard hearts and cold intellects incapable of mercy?
But don't worry, it is all in the name of good science.

Johnson, have you seen Battlestar Galactica? The whole premise is based on robots killing their human creators. I just started watching it and it looks good.

I have TiVo and so we never watch TV in real time. About all we watch is The Office, and Lie To Me. I like the Simpsons and Futurama and Breaking Bad as well. My brother kept telling me that I have to watch BSG. He said start with the miniseries and move to season 1. I ended up buying DVDs too.

Now there is a better way. Imagine waking up to a giant blue bag slapping down ontop of your face, then the vacume evacuates the air and a merciless robotic arm hauls you out of bed by your face, stacks you neatly with your neighbors and moves on down the block.
Ironically, it could probably function if this new jamming gripper was in fact a bag of meat... say fresh from the human disposal pits...
The future is bleak, friends.
