What we have here is a retired construction worker who's hobby is moving 19,500 pound cement blocks to create his own personal stone henge in his back yard. And he does it with nothing but two by fours, stone pebbles, and gravity... also one retired construction worker.
This is a striking example of what we can do when we apply a little bit of science. Looks like you don't need magic or aliens to make the wonders of the world after all.

Re: How many people to make Stone Henge? Would you believe, One?
The more I read about the wonders of old, the more I am unsure how these were created. We could not make as well today the pyramids, with all our technology. Is it possible with time and technology we lose knowledge?

We definitely could not make a better pyramid these days.....even using our better technology. Have you seen how complex they are? I can't even imagine how it was done in the past

If it is a ridiculous myth why are there many experts who also agree with this line of thinking here is an extract from an ABC documentary 30th April 2003
"Many engineers believe that even with the help of 21st Century technology, they still could not build anything like the Great Pyramid. It is aligned with the four points of the compass with a near perfect precision and its base, which covers 13 acres, is level to within less than one inch. This accuracy is phenomenal in any epoch, and an almost supernatural feat for the ancient Egyptians."

Re: How many people to make Stone Henge? Would you believe, One?
It would be expensive to build a pyramid now, but not teribly difficult. We would have a much easier time of it now than they had, and it would be done with greater precision.
Some technologies were certainly lost to time after the fall of classical civilization. Lost in large part due to the repression of thought brought on by religious revival of ignorance as a virtue. I mean Faith. Faith as a virtue.

Just as there are many experts who agree that Bigfoot is wandering around North America, or that UFO's abduct people. It's an argument from authority fallacy.

Welcome, Pete70. It is appealing to think that the ancient Egyptians had access to some mystical force or knowledge that is lost today. And though the Great Pyramid is an astonishing feat and though we may not know exactly how they did it, I don't think it's a great mystery.
In fact, we can build pyramids. Though typically it's not very practical.
A good question to ask is could the Egyptians have built the Golden Gate Bridge?
Hmm . . . pretty pictures . . .

I am happy to see any different proof......
This is true. People who say otherwise have not adequately studied the Great Pyramid. It is a complete mystery. The scale and precision are utterly astounding. It is not a tomb, and has no internal hieroglyphic decoration. Air shafts from the central chamber point to the stars Sirius, Al-Nitak, Thuban and Kochab. The three pyramids of Giza are exceptional in quality and scale compared to other Egyptian work, appearing out of the blue without precedent, unlike any other normal thing that evolved on earth.
I hesitate to provide links on this material as generally the science is mixed in with mystical speculation, but one site with many interesting facts is http://www.crystalinks.com/gpstats.html. One interesting book,Thoth, Architect of the Universe by Ralph Ellis argues that the pyramids are in fact much older than generally thought. Ellis also points out that the Orion Correlation is the same as for the pyramid complex in Mexico. Robert Bauval provides one example pointing out the difficulties of debate.

Please.
RT, look at the video at the head of this thread. That's one guy moving gigantic blocks all by himself. After seeing that, i am pretty sure that I could put together a work force to build a pyramid.
How would it be remotely difficult to orient the proportions of the building so that they point towards celestial objects?
After seeing what one bored retiree can do, you really think a whole society of people werent able to figure this thing out, or that we couldn't do the same now, if we actually tried?

I think we could make a pyramid like that, but would we really WANT to? I don't think we'd really even want it to be as precise as the actual pyramids. Why would we? I guess bragging rights, maybe...
