I would imagine the Egyptians had lots of practice building small-scale versions of these things and what we see today are the culmination of very advanced stages of Egyptian engineering/building. And no question that these pyramids were an amazing feat. I don't buy the argument that we could not build them today the same way the Egyptians did. We could if we were motivated to do so. You could almost make the same argument that we could not land a man on the moon the same way it was done in the 60s-70s. Probably we could do it, but we'd likely tackle that project in a different manner. And anyway, what is being suggested? That the Egyptians got help from alien beings? It seems much more plausible that the Egyptians were simply very good at pyramid-making.

The only thing we lack, which the egyptians had in great abundance, was a desire to construct them. That came from their religious convictions, and the mandates of their un-impeachable ruling class. If they had the technological abilities that we do currently, there wouldn't be just a few pyramids. There would be hundreds of them.
What we lack is the desire to create them. what would be the point? It is a completely lopsided project. tons of resources, man hours, and effort to build a man-made mountain with triangular sides?
Nope, we would rather build sky scrapers (something no ancient civilization can ever boast of) and other facilities in which to rake in money hand over fist.
The ONLY challeng in building a historically accurate pyramid is the procurement and moving of the large blocks. Not the design, not the angles, not the celestial alignment.
We could get a talented high schooler to duplicate those designs.

OK - I live here. Stonehenge takes your breath away!! Honestly!
I went to India, and I thought, 'I'm not interested in seeing 'the sights'. But, the tour included the 'Taj Mahal'.....And so...I climbed the steps thinking, 'I'm too hot....I'm not interesting in ticking this off on my box of sights seen'.
I climbed the steps....went through the arch....and there it was....'floating'.
It floats....it is just so, so beautiful....I got goosepimples down my arms...and I so, did not want to be impressed.
