When I lived in the states with access to those wonderful free libraries, I read about 3-4 books a week, mostly fiction, with maybe 2 or 3 non-fictions a month.
Now since finding Project Gutenberg and other online free book sites, I read about one a week, more or less. Of course, none of these are the currently available books but only those whose copyrights have expired. So I am reading more of a mix now of fiction and non-fiction.

Last year I read right at 52 books, not including magazine articles, poetry, plays and short stories.
This year I think I'm ahead of the curve, and since I won't be getting an internet connection in my new apartment, the trend shows every indication of being on the increase. |

Hrm, hard to say. I have to read a lot for my job, so between reading for work and reading for pleasure I knock over 200+ books a year easily - excluding journals, articles, plays and short stories.

I was trying to figure that out, but the EZ board hack wiped the logbook I'd been keeping since last November. I suspect I read 60-100 books a year, but I'm not sure, as my reading amounts change by season...

Hmm. That's hard to say. Maybe 50 - 60? Of which most are nonfiction with a sprinking of fantasy and sci fi.
Since I started setting aside time each morning, I'm reading much more. It's hard to read in the evenings with the TV on in our small house. If I'm home alone in the evenings, the TV is off and the book is open.
As for reading books from Gutenberg and such-like, I found I just hate reading electronic copies of books. Partly it's that I mark up substantial books. But it's more than that, because I'd much rather read a library book, which of course does not get marked up. A book can be read anywhere and never runs out of batteries. It's easier on the eyes and turning the pages gives a sense of making progress. Seeing the little scroll bar move down just isn't the same.

It is sad how expensive they are! The library helps, but I like keeping books for reference after reading.
