Hi guys,
My name is Jesse. I'm a 22/23 (in 6 days) year old male. I enjoy books which give facts and instructions. I don't like documentaries or autobiographies though :-(

. They're boring to me. I'm from the USA, Kentucky to be exact. My hobbies include linguistics, Amateur Radio, Learning (I love to learn new things), writing, and jogging/biking.

I started this site because I've been having trouble in my life. Some wise man once said that if you have problems in your life, you should read a book because someone, somewhere has already written about it. That's why I've joined. I usually don't read fiction b/c the anticipation kills me but I like poetry. I LOVE writing fiction and poetry. I hate non-fiction because it's not creative enough (It's based on reality). I enjoy seeing how things work and how they can be manipulated. I found BookTalk after thinking about creating my own book club online and doing a little research on Google. My mind wanders in about 1000 different directions a minute. I can be on one thought one second and a totally different thought the next.

Well, it's nice to meet you guys. Fill me in on how this works exactly, if you don't mind.

You said, 'I enjoy books which give facts and instructions" but then you said you don't like non-fiction. Most books that contain facts and instructions are non-fiction.

Hi Jesse, welcome to booktalk. Your post is a little confusing - is poetry the only thing you like to read? There is a nice poetry forum here that you'll probably like - and maybe if you read some of the book discussion threads, you'll find something others are discussing that you might enjoy yourself.

Basically, I like books which discuss possibilities. Informative books give you bits and pieces and allow you to arrive at your own possibilities of imagination. In this sense, I don't see information books the same as non fiction. Non fiction to me is a book which goes head over heels into details and doesn't provide the reader a way to create the own possibilities from what they're reading. I know the system places these types of books together, but for some reason, my brain does not. Poetry also offers the author and the reader UNLIMITED interpretive possibilities. Thanks for your replies and I'll give it a shot.

Hi and welcome. I also tried starting up my own on line book club to try and discuss stuff I had read, but it didn't really work. I was so pleased to find this site.
