From Russia with love

Hey, I'm Maria from Russia. I'm 28, marketing manager in a small human rights non-profit organization. BA in teaching English and German and MSc in marketing.
I love reading, travelling and writing.
Favourites - Virginia Woolf, Milan Kundera, Milorad Pavic, Erlend Loe, Jane Austen, Jean-Paul Sartre, Vladimir Nabokov, John Steibeck and many others.

I found BookTalk while looking for the original text of a quote from "Orlando". The quote is -

‘Are you positive you aren’t a man?’ he would ask anxiously, and she would echo,
‘Can it be possible you’re not a woman?’ and then they must put it to the proof without more ado.

Needed it for my Facebook profile because it somewhat describes my idea of a perfect relationship

I love talking about books but seldom have a chance to do it. I'm quite busy at work, but it this site works I will find time for it.

Welcome Maria. I once worked as a stringed instrument repairman in St. Petersburg—the one in Florida—and coincidentally was privileged to do some repairs on a balalaika for a fellow from St. Petersburg, Russia. There was a bit of a language barrier, but we were able to overcome that using a combination of sign language and an English-to-Russian dictionary. It was an interesting, and often humorous interchange, and I think we might have become good friends, were it not for the fact that his stay was limited to about six weeks. Anyway, I thought of this when I saw your post (love the title), and I wanted to say that I look forward to hearing some cross-cultural opinions on books.
