After spending nine years working behind a desk in the Agency's headquarters on Sigma Prime, Sam is bored with the daily routine. Having given his situation much thought, he decided to spend a sizable portion of his life savings on a new ship and go freelance, becoming a chase, catch and deliver guy for the Agency. His job is simple in theory. He is given a specific target to find, apprehend and deliver into the care of the relevant Law Enforcement Agency outpost for trials, sentencing and incarceration. His targets are those wanted in connection with crimes, escaped prisoners, missing people and all manner of psychos and crazies. Going freelance took years off him, and although dangerous work, he wouldn't change a moment of it to be permanently back behind a desk at home on Sigma Prime.
In Floxham Island, Sam is charged with finding and apprehending Professor Nembier, wanted for nine murders on an archeological dig on Agrillia 3. Finding the Professor was the easy part. Delivering him into the care of Floxham Island Prison Planet quickly becomes one of the worst nightmares Sam has ever experienced.
Surrounded by fearsome creatures and hundreds of dead, Sam and the small group who find themselves stranded on Floxham Island, must find a way to survive until help arrives to rescue them. When more deaths occur, he realises that a new killer is amongst them who threatens everyone's survival. Sam and his new friends must face the terrors that lurk in the dark, whilst avoiding those that dwell in the light and as their numbers dwindle, he must unmask the killer and secure all their lives.
