Hello!

My name is Emily and I was introduced to this forum by my friend Tammy. We are roomates in Takasaki, Japan.
I am originally from Halifax, Canada and I have been living in Japan and teaching English for one year. My future plans include starting law school in the U.S this year but I haven't decided which one yet.

My interests are reading books, watching movies, listening to music and shopping. My pet peeve is pretension. I usually read mysteries and suspense novels but I am open to anything. The feature I look for most in a good book is the characters. Some of my favourite books are "Gone With the Wind", "The Hours", and "Pride and Prejudice". I also enjoy drama, such as "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" and "Angels in America".

By joining this book club I am hoping to be exposed to some great literature and to share in other people's experience of reading a good book.

Thanks!

Welcome to the community, Emily. :) Wow! Two members in Japan now. I love when we get new members in different parts of the world. It seems that most members are located in the eastern United States. Have you pushed a pushpin in our Guest Map? You'll find it on our Home page in the left margin near the bottom. I look forward to getting to know you better through your posts. ::44

Hello, Emily.

You're teaching English in Japan and want to be a lawyer. I'm a lawyer who's given it up and am interested in teaching English. And, like you, I've only very recently enrolled here.

I look forward to seeing your book recommendations and comments. Good luck with everything.
