I love the idea Weaver had. "Lolita, and the Department of Children Services" had me rolling. "One Thousand and One Nights, and no luck thus far." I am not sure if the innuendo is appropriate though?

I'm glad you guys are having so much fun with this. The current contest will be over soon. We will use this concept for the next one. Since there have been so many clever book titles, I'm looking forward to many participants. Just remember, you not only need to come up with a title, but you will need to write a few paragraphs.

hello fellas, those are my humble ideas for a contest... hope you like

1- since book fans are mostly writers as well will be great if members share their works with us, saw the limerick contest and the book sea is huge and can explore more fields.
2- Also can open a kind of debates about certain issues or hot subjects where everyone can post their point of view , the most appreciated one wins.
3- quiz idea is good also and can expand it to plenty contests by categorizing it , let say a quiz about 19th century literature , or about a specific writer , this will help improving the knowledge of the members and everyone will be winners

4- the best book critics or reviews also can be a good material of a contest.
5- another idea is that by giving a certain subject , members propose books titles about it and the most appreciated proposed book wins.
6- out of ideas lol ... those were my general ideas , if you like to discuss any of them more specifically on how to execute the ideas and so on i am glade to help as well our dear members can improve them, group work will give great results for sure

I like the way you're thinking, Samo, but I would definitely be against any contest where an opinion or point of view is judged simply for being "better" than another. That is subjective, unfair, and, quite frankly, impossible, and is not the kind of atmosphere BookTalk wants to promote, at least from what I have seen.

I am for any kind of writing contest, be it poetry or changing endings or titles or characters. Are we still thinking of doing the humorous title change contest next?

Again, Samo, glad you're in head first, it is definitely welcomed, but members don't judge the contest, and a popularity contest is also not in the right mindset for this forum. But I am not trying to be mean or anything, I'm glad you're getting involved and we're happy to have you here! I hope you'll participate in the new contest once it starts. It seems like it will be good fun for all.
