Here is my essay:
Books and Reading – two things that belong together
A lifetime isn’t enough time to read all the good books there are. And there are more of them every single day. It doesn’t matter how fast you read, there will always be some books left you haven’t read before. Is that good or bad? I don’t know. On the one hand it is good, because you can always depend on there being a next book when you finish reading one. On the other hand it is bad because you will never be able to read all the books you want to read.
For me books are my best friends and I can’t even imagine living without them. If that ever happened I would have to live on with a broken heart in a world with less possibilities of escaping reality. I could never give up on reading. Reading is my passion. Books are my passion.
My fantasy started to evolve by reading books and there are just a few things that are more valuable to me than my fantasy, like my family. I am really grateful to my mother for always reading books to me when I was a child and for even writing stories for me when I complained that there aren’t any stories without some kind of villain. With the time it became my greatest wish to become an author myself and to write great books that others will love to read.
I think, forgetting about the contents of books sometimes isn’t bad at all, because it gives me the pleasure of reading them again without them getting boring. But even when I write that, there aren’t many books I read twice, because most times there are some new books waiting for me and I just want to know what they are about.
Every book is unique. It’s special on its own and I can’t change it, even if I wish I could. There isn’t such a thing as a book that is good or bad. It just depends on the view of the reader. It depends on his way of thinking, his interests and attitude. Of course there are also many books that I don’t like, but I at least try to acknowledge the hard work of the author and if I have to read such a book for some reason, I also try to learn from it, even if it’s just a little bit.
Reading is important for everything in life. Work and pleasure, cooking, driving, learning and so much more. For me it’s one of the essential things to my life and I will never be able to understand someone who doesn’t like books.
