Check out the new flash banner!
You'll have to log out of your account to see the new flash banner at the top of the page. (Do it after you read this post!) Once you log into your account the banner will vanish so as not to drive members nuts. The purpose of the banner is to help visitors get to the registration page. Prior to the addition of this new banner there was simply a small text link near the top of the page called "register." Most people know to look for such registration links, but I felt we were losing a good percentage of visitors that aren't as familiar with forums. Hopefully now we'll see an increase in registrations.
The next project will be to spiffy up the actual registration page. It is a bit too intimidating. We're going to add some graphics and make it a bit more warm and welcoming. I think both of these two changes to the registration experience will have a positive impact.
There are a lot of other upgrades in the works too!
