Book Reviews - Who would like to do some?

Hey Chris!

Just got back from holiday and the first day back i checked out the website

, I could not simply ignore the offer to review books so i just had to post.
I would like to review:
The Looking Glass Wars
The Keep
The Ruins
Although i wouldnt mind reviewing some of the offer books if my choice has had too many offers, I read roughly about 1-3 books a month and always keen to try read new authors or different genres.
I know you said you wanted people with high post rating to do the reviews but im new and havnt really had a chance soo if you need information or anything contact me via email ::121

Anyone who expressed or would like to express an interest in reviewing books should do 2 things.

1. Make a post here telling everyone what books you want to review.
2. Send Chris an email to chris@booktalk.org with your BookTalk name, real name, mailing address, and the book or books you wish to review. Please let me know in that email that you will do the review in the time period requested by the publisher.

Thanks for your interest in doing book reviews, but we have a few obstacles to overcome first. I'd like to make sure that the publishers are ok with shipping books to Singapore. I'm not sure what it costs, but if they are ok I'm ok. The next issue is that you are not an active BookTalk members. All we ask is that you become a little more active so that we get to know you a little and trust that you will represent us well.

Just like with Yodha we need you to become a little more active in the community before we start sending free books. The publishers won't be happy with BookTalk if they mail out free books and then don't get a review in return. So please take this opprtunity to make some posts and introduce yourself properly to the community. Jump into some discussions.

I found your address and have emailed the publisher. They should be mailing a review copy of The Chicken Little Agenda directly to you soon.

In addition I have been talking with the author and the authors son through email. You have got to see the authors web site. Robert Williscroft is a rather amazing individual. He has done just about everything that the average person only dreams of doing.

Check out his Home page and then explore from there. Learning a little about the author might help you with the review.

i'd be interested in this; however, i will have to check back when i have time. i have been AWOL lately with a busy summer and just getting back into the swing of things. i actually have a blog on which i already do book reviews of books i have read, though i haven't updated it recently despite a lot of summer reading:

my only concern is how much of a review would be published? nothing is worse than seeing these random one liners taken out of context on the back of book covers. even after reading a book i did not enjoy, i can usually find something positive to say about it. i would not want a publisher misrepresenting the sentiments of my review by only quoting the most flattering sentence they could find. while i understand such reviews are meant to flatter the book and increase sales, i would only be interested if anything used as promotional was in context and not a quick one liner.

I'm pretty sure the publishers have to get permission before they reproduce a segment of a review for promotional purposes. Most of the quotes you see on the backs of new releases are quotes solicited from reviewers (ie. other writers or celebrities) the publishers feel certain will say something flattering. A lot of back scratching goes on in that sense, as I understand it.
