I saw an article about this a few weeks back, with a different author, but the information within was similar.

Read this article. Very interesting.

it goes into why red states are against abortion, against divorce, and gay marriage, yet have the statistacally inferior record for stable families and teen pregnancy.

There are links made about education levels that dictate our stance on abortion with a nod to cognitive dissonance, shot-gun weddings, and women's lib.

The implecation is blue states have more upwardly mobile young adults. Let's see, New York v. Alabama, not hard to believe.

In the other article, it was more about how our life plan dictates our stances on liberal or conservative thought.

College bound people are more likely to want to postpone having children. Children usually suck one if not both parents out of school to deal with the new responsibility. Early families are not in the plans for most college kids, so as a result their views on pre-marital sex and abortion are much more forgiving.

There is no benefit to putting off raising a family for those who go strait into the job market, and as a result the stances are much more stringent on pre=-marital sex, or promiscuity in general, as there is a threat to the established early families.
