Blogging Basics

This page will show you the basics of using your WordPress-powered blog on BookTalk.org. If you would like more advanced information there are links provided at the bottom of this page.

Logging in, Registering, and Creating Your Blog

The blogs on BookTalk.org are fully integrated with our forums. If you are a member of the forums, you do not need to register again to have a blog. You only need to create the blog itself, which you can do here. This page is simple to use. Just pick the URL you would like to use for your blog. Many people pick a URL identical to or at least similar to their username on the forums so that people can easily find their blog in our Blog Directory.

Logging in…

You should very rarely need to log into your blog, because with the integration we have with the forums, you should be automatically logged into both parts of the site, just by visiting the forum. If you find that you’re not logged in, you have a couple options. You can go back to the forum and log in, or you can log into your blog directly. If you have the “Meta” widget in the sidebar of your blog, that will have a login link. If that widget is missing or somehow lost, you can always get to your admin panel by visiting www.booktalk.org/blogs/[yourblogname]/wp-admin/ directly.

Now that you have a blog, you can start using it. The following videos will show you the basics of using your WordPress powered blog.
