Are you into American Idol?

My wife and I are absolutely hooked on this show so we're excited to know that the new season will be starting in mid-January. According to the official site the Season Premiere starts on Tue. & Wed., Jan. 13 & 14 at 8:00 pm eastern.

Anyone else looking forward to this season?

I tried watching this a couple times and just couldn't see the appeal. I did, however, enjoy watching So You Think You Can Dance. It was interesting to watch the development of these dancers and the amazing talent some of them had. The only part I did not like was the first shows where they decided who would move on and there were many dancers whose belief in their limited talent made me very embarrassed for them.

The other show that I know is popular but I still cannot figure out why is the Amazing Race. Why do people like it?

Chris, what do you like about American Idol?

I was a die hard American Idol fan until last season. Before then, I watched every episode from day one. Last year I found the show extremely boring and I felt like Simon didn't care what he was going to say as his critique because he knew he was leaving at the end of the season. I think that with Simon and Kara gone, this will more than likely be the last year for what was once a really great show. I think the move to put Steve Tyler on the panel was in very poor judgment. I can't say enough good things about Ryan Seacrest but... he has so many other opportunities out there that I wouldn't be sorry to see this show come to an end. It should have ended after last season because now they are going to kill what was once a great show!
