Hello friends and fellow book lovers.
I am Anika Kalia, 23 years old girl living in Chennai, India but I belong to New Delhi India. I am an Information Technology student studying in College of Engineering, Anna University, Chennai.
I was fond of books since the time I remember. But I started reading properly only after I entered college. Since then I have read many books and enjoy reading certain magazines. My concentration is entirely on fiction books. And I must say that reading books is my passion. There's nothing that can stop me from getting a good book to read at the end of the day or even to kill occasional boredom. Once I start reading I forget the world outside but find myself lost in a completely different world that comes with a feeling of satisfaction and happiness. Although I am an avid reader I m quite sure that still I have certainly missed the best books in the world and thus one day it struck me to be in contact with other avid readers so that I may not miss what definitely needs to be read. Precisely for that reason I m here. No doubt I m gonna share my own views on my favorite books. Not only that but also the fact that somehow I may be able to make my passion a serious agenda apart from just a trivial hobby (although I don't know how is that possible especially when I don't entertain the obvious idea of considering writing in that light but even then want to think in that way) attracts me to be in touch with people with similar interests.
To talk about the type of books that I read then as I already said apart from a couple of non-fiction books I always go for fiction because I feel to read a certain non-fiction book I should be completely aware of its theme to actually enjoy the book. If there's any such possibility with respect to a particular book I will never hesitate to go for it. Books have got a universal life changing property and thus before reading such a book I need to prepare myself which I shall certainly do when the time is right.
Among fiction I prefer thrillers though definitely not Sidney Sheldon types but something that offers something different and unique like it is with Dan Brown's novels. Then comes drama of any kind which will keep me entertained and allow me to empathize with the characters. I prefer those stories with which I can recognize myself and although I loved Romance themes in the beginning but now I don't seem to enjoy the stories and situations portrayed in such novels as they seem too far from reality.
Finally I would like to say that on randomly searching on net about a good book discussions club I found BookTalk.org quite appealing and now when I have joined it I look forward to enhancing my book reading experience by being in contact with like minded people.
