About
Frank Morris
Moderator & Contributor of BookTalk.org
|
I am an agnostic atheist; I was
never indoctrinated into any religion and by the
time I heard my first religious arguments I was
too rationally minded to believe such stories. Despite
my lack of belief people often describe me as spiritual
and as having an old soul.
I can find humor in nearly anything (even when its
not appropriate) and my wife describes me as a big
kid.
I do love nature and enjoy camping, hiking, snorkeling,
photography and reading.
I like both cats and dogs.
I have over 20 years of martial arts
training in varied styles; I hold a black belt in Tae
Kwon Do and Ninjitsu and a second degree black belt
in Tang Soo Do. I have also studied Isshinryu, Boxing,
Ancient European sword fighting, knife fighting and
standard kickboxing.
I am a Desert Storm war veteran and have traveled to
several other countries in both a military and civilian
capacity including Australia, Germany, Honduras, Belize,
Saudi Arabia, Guatemala, and Canada. I have climbed
Aries Rock in Australia, flown into the crater of Mt
St. Helens in a helicopter, hiked on glaciers in Alaska
and yes
camped in the desert.
I do get seasick, but not airsick.
In the past I worked civilian security and held a top secret Department of Defense clearance. I have worked both armed and unarmed security. My work has allowed me to experience things like helping in the cleanup of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and working personal protection for high-level corporate employees during strikes and plant closures. I was even mistaken for FBI on one occasion.
I now work law enforcement for the state of New York as a correction officer. Working in a prison is turning out to be an interesting and challenging experience, not something I would recommend for the lighthearted.
The money is ok, but the benefits and retirement are unmatched.
I embrace change, challenge and competition and I like
to test myself and my limitations; I feel that when
a person does not experience change something inside
them sleeps.
I enjoy debating religion from a simple rational standpoint
and moderating on BookTalk is a fun way for me to practice my arguments and techniques.
