I just made a decision about our cafepress.com store. From this point forward all of our BookTAlk.org merchandise will be sold with absolutely no markup. In other words BookTalk.org will not make a single penny off the cafepress merchandise you purchase through our store.
Up till 5 minutes ago I had all prices set with a 25% markup. For instance, the large BookTalk.org coffee mug was sold for $14.99. Cafepress has a "base price" and then shop owners, like me, decide on what sort of markup to add. Everything over the markup we keep as revenue.
I'd rather see you guys actually buying some BookTalk merchandise than actually try to turn a profit on it. Over the years we have sold very little, to be honest. The best selling items are the bumper stickers, coffee mugs, mouse pads and t-shirts. I appreciate all of you that have ordered merchandise.
From this point forward I have selected a 0% markup...so you pay only the base price, which means 100% goes to cafepress, and I receive nothing at all. Well, actually I receive the comfort in knowing you guys are getting your merchandise for the best possible price and also that the BookTalk.org logo is getting some exposure.
So please look through our store and buy a few items. Again, you won't be benefiting BookTalk financially. We will not get a single penny. But you will be supporting us in a much more valuable way. I would LOVE to see more of our coffee mugs and bumper stickers sold. To know you are seeing the BookTalk.org log when you're enjoying a cup of coffee at home would make my day.
