A poem you know by heart
"Alone" - Edgar Allan Poe
From childhood's hour I have not been As others were; I have not seen As others saw; I could not bring My passions from a common spring From the same source I have not taken My sorrow; I could not awaken My heart to joy at the same tone; And all I loved, I loved alone. Thanks for posting that. I hadn't read this one before, and of course it's possible to read this as Poe's actual feelings. Maybe it still is a persona, though. I think it's good to memorize poems. I've had a number of them rolling around in my head for years. Every now and then they need some touch-up, but basically I never seem to forget them. For no particular reason, I'll chose this one, easy to memorize, by William Butler Yeats.
