I wanted to share this with you all because it is just so surreal! My son is 4 and has an imagination on him...to say the least! This is an actual conversation he just had with my wife:
Troy: Hey mom, what does conscience mean? Suz: Conscience? T:yeah S:Well, it's got to do with thoughts and your brain, sort of. Like "guilty conscience" or "unconscience" T:Oh..and what about political? S:Where did you hear "political?" T: My friend...John Kerry S: John Kerry told you? T:Yeah,me and Casey saw him at the circus! S:You saw John Kerry at the circus? **keep in mind, I never brought the kids to any circus because of my animal rights beliefs** T:Yeah..and he's not afraid of clowns, or alligators and he don't sneeze at cats. But he does have a pet! A hamster! S:John Kerry has a hamster? T: Yeah..a golden hamster! He's a liberal. S:John Kerry's liberal? T:Yeah! S:Troy, where did you hear words like political and liberal? T: My English teacher. She can say potical in Spanish! But, she's dead. S:She's dead? T:Yeah S: Is she dead or alive? T:She's dead...for real.
Should I be worried? LOL

| How does a 4 year old know that there are "English teachers?" For some reason I found that one to be the most surprising. How much TV does he watch? Do you think he's been sneaking out of bed at night to watch C-Span? |

Well...he has older siblings in school, so he probably picked up the teacher thing there...but DEAD? My!
He watches cartoons mostly, but I guess he hears the news when we have it on...or maybe he is watching C-Span at night.
He is a sponge for information...and he puts it together well, if not psychotically!

You should be worried...and yet amazed. Give him a few years. Then be really worried if the strangeness continues.
It's all about their perceptions at that age. My youngest brother (of 2 younger brothers) is 12 years younger than I am. At about the age of 4 he asked my mother a question. Keep in mind, my family are all fairly tall. I'm 6'4, my other younger brother is 6'3", my sister: 6', and my father 6'7". My mother, however, is 5'5". My youngest brother waltzed up to my mother and asked, "Mom, are you a midget?" Who knows where he even learned to associate "midget" with being small?! But his perception was that since my mother was so much shorter than the rest of us...that she was a midget. In Vino Veritas |
