A book for kids, set in space
Hi guys,
I hope you don't mind me telling you about my book. It's called
The Astronaut's Apprentice and was published last year.
The story stars Bradley, who is a normal boy from Planet Earth. He lives on a farm, attends a normal school, and has a morbid fear that tentacles will start sprouting out of his head.
His companion is his long lost alien Grandpa: a daring (if elderly) astronaut who hails from a planet that Bradley hasn't heard of.
When Grandpa comes to Earth in search of an apprentice, Bradley jumps at the chance to join him. Together, they embark on a whirlwind tour of space, visiting Mars, the Asteroid Belt, and the shadowy outer reaches where pirates lie in wait.
The book is aimed at 9-12 year olds. Earlier this year, a class of schoolchildren read it together as a class project and seemed to really enjoy it. Certainly, I'm very proud of the letters and pictures they all sent me. The sequel is coming out next month, so if you know any children who like funny or fantastical books, it's a great time for them to discover this story.
